the independent voice for women

for women of all ages, shapes and sizes

Major international and national women's magazines (as well as other paper media) together with television current affairs, tend to look at the plus size as being undisciplined and out of control.   This attitude couldn't be any further away from the truth.

Even when the major women's magazines cover the topic of size in a so-called respectful manner, the final results in the printed magazine, prove to be both patronising and inappropriate.    Turning an interview from one of supposedly courteous discussion into one where rudeness takes over and questions dealing with personal matters become confronting and humiliating, does nothing more than to prove that the media has absolutely no idea of how to treat people with respect.

The fact of the matter is that who-ever has the final say (and this is as difficult to find out as it is to jog to the moon) in these matters, shows contempt and disdain towards fellow human beings.   You only have to leaf through this week's issue of most of the major women's glossies and you'll see that actresses and models are given similar treatment.   So what if an actress doesn't regain her slender body a week after giving birth to a baby - isn't she allowed to restore her health and well being in a timeframe that her body (and mind) requires?

Interviewers and reporters (journalists) have become arrogant in their professional techniques - it's obviously a hard cruel world out there for them to be successfull.  But that shouldn't mean they lose all integrity.   Their attitude that "gossip" and "scandal" (and unfortunately size seems to equate with being scandulous!)sell copies, is no longer acceptable.  Surely there has to be a return to some basic behaviour principles and standards.

ROSEMARY'S NOTEBOOK ©
For almost 20 years this publication has been distributed world-wide.  It is devoted to stories, articles, write-ups, fashion gossip,  poetry, quotable quotes, and other fun things, all contributed by our readers both locally and from overseas. Its audience is WOMEN - regardless of age, size and shape.   We do however deal with many subjects and issues that effect and impact upon the plus size woman. It is our belief that we are all equal and deserving of mutual respect and admiration.

FINDING LOVE in Autumn

What are your thoughts about a little short story that has a middle-aged fat lady as the heroine.   She discovers everything she never knew about friendships, life, good food, and love, to her surprise and to the delight of the man of her dreams.

This is a feel-good story that once again dispels the myth that love is only for the young and slim.   It's presently being written and already I can see a couple of other books in the pipeline dealing with her friendships and how the lives of her girl friends continue to unfold.

Yes, there's a wedding involved (in fact there may even be two or three!),  fabulous holidays in the tropics, the blossoming of careers, and love in the mornings, afternoons and evenings.   "Love-in-the-Mist" is now completed and ready for distribution.   The second booklet "Fragrant Rhapsody" is almost complete.

This publication  is presented weekly and sent via email, in pdf format, exclusively to ladies on my mailing list (it is never sent unsolicited) and usually covers one sole subject each issue.    As a sister publication to RoseMary's NoteBook© - n o - its intention is NOT to replace RoseMary's NoteBook © - its aim is to provide information that will be thought provoking and encourage plus size women to see themselves from a different perspective to that which the rest of society sees them.

Keep tuned as this website is being constantly renewed.
